The Barcelo Bavaro Beach Hotel was opened in 1985. This 
was the first Barcelo Hotel in the 'New World' and a pioneer 
of the unknown area of Bavaro. Today it is one of the most 
important and popular tourist destinations in the world.
The hotel is on the fine, white sands of Playa Bavaro Beach, 
considered to be one of the finest beaches in the world. The 
1.8 mile stretch of tropical beach, enclosed by a coral 
reef, forms a natural swimming pool of turquoise blue water, 
revealing a wonderful submarine world beneath the surface.
